These chamber works were composed throughout my academic career at Lawrence University Conservatory of Music, IES Vienna Music, and the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music.

NIGHTS WITHOUT SLEEP

Nights Without Sleep, a poem written by Sara Teasdale, showcases the progression of Insomnia and how a force so powerful can inflict the body physically as well as our minds emotionally. In this choral piece, the eerie harmonies and repetition of text conveys the exhaustion and discombobulation one experiences when sleep deprived.  As artists and musicians residing in Los Angeles, we live in a deadline driven society where we are given little time to cultivate our art and therefore compromise our mental health.

Ohne Dich

First conceived and performed in Vienna, Austria, Ohne Dich, signifies the loss and longing one feels when abandoned by a loved one. Performed at Lawrence University, this chamber piece features Elyse Brontzman on flute, Brandin Kreuder on Violin, Derrick Hahn on Piano and vocals by yours truly.

I Am Not Yours

I Am Not Yours is an integration of two poems by Sarah Teasdale and William Shakespeare. While the text by Sarah Teasdale evokes heartache, the text by Shakespeare depicts a speaker who moves on from her past lover. The purpose of this piece is to go against the common trope of female operatic characters in which a woman's fate lies in the hands of man. Performed by Soprano Katie Mueller and pianist Aboris De Jesus.

A Dream Within A Dream

A Dream Within a Dream, text by Edgar Allen Poe, features Baritone Erik Nordstrom and Tony Cardella on piano. Performed in the University Chapel at Lawrence University Spring 2017.

Les échos des personnes que nous aimions autrefois

Commissioned and premiered by Duo Vis a Vis on their North American (2018) and South American Tours(2019-2020). Vis a Vis is a chamber duo with Brandin Kreuder on Viola and Craig Jordan on Piano. (click on their logo and you will be directed to their page).

#METOO

#METOO is a compilation of posts from #metoo forums transformed into one story. By using text from different forums, I created a story about a young woman who has never experienced lust or romance but is completely blindsided when she encounters someone who is far from trustworthy. In this composition, I want to assure women that this traumatic experience does not define who you are. This composition features soprano Kaylee Parker,  Esbeyde Bibi Sánchez on First violin, Taylor Cooksey on Viola, and Natalie Do on Cello.

April in Paris Arrangement

Performed by the Concert Jazz Orchestra at California State University Long Beach (Spring 2019)
